The conclusion regarding the continental nature of the earth's crust was also made on the basis of the interpretation of seismic data (deep seismic sounding and seismic reflection sounding) obtained along the geotraverse across Mendeleev rise during the “Transarctic-2000” expedition. The earth's crust is up to 32 km thick and contains typical components of the continental crust (sedimentary layer up to 5 km thick, upper crust up to 6-8 km thick, with velocity reversal [waveguides] in the lower part, and lower crust up to 20 km thick).
كما تم التوصل إلى الاستنتاج المتصل بالطابع القاري لقشرة الأرض على أساس قراءة البيانات الارتجاجية (السبر الضوئي الارتجاجي العميق والسبر الارتدادي الارتجاجي) التي تم التوصل إليها من دراسة الانحراف الأرضي عبر ارتفاع منديلييف التي أجرتها بعثة “ترانسآركتيكا - 2000” فسمك القشرة الأرضية يصل إلى 32 كم وهي تشتمل على مكونات توجد عادة في القشرة القارية (تصل سماكة الطبقة الرسوبية إلى 5 كم، بينما يبلغ سمك الطبقة العليا 6-8 كم مع انعكاس للسرعة (الدليل الموجي) في الجزء الأسفل، كما يبلغ سمك الطبقة السفلى حوالي 20 كم).
